Isabel Burr Raty

Isabel Burr Raty is an artist and filmmaker interested in exploring the interstices between the organic and the artificial, between the unlicensed knowledge of minority groups and the dominant narratives. She teaches Media Art History at École de Recherche Graphique, is a researcher at Nadine-WAB IV Brussels and jury member of the KASK Autonomous Design Master programme in Gent. In 2018–2019 she obtained the bio-art/design AFK 3 Package-Deal Grant, which partnered her with Waag and Mediamatic Amsterdam. Her artworks intertwine live art and new media installations, inviting audiences to queer the fixed categories of production understandings, and experience the benefits of embodying science fiction in real time, such as the Beauty Kit Female Farm. Her works and collaborations have been shown internationally at the Paris Palais de Tokyo, the Royal Flemish Theater, the Hong Kong ISEA and the London Eco-Futures, among others. With the support of the Media Fund (Creative Europe), Isabel is developing her second film, exposing the impact of colonialism on Easter Island’s Rapa Nui people.
