Lona Gaikis was born in Toronto, Canada. She is a postdoctoral researcher, author, curator, and lecturer in philosophy, music, and art. Her research is focused on the “new key” in the works of the American philosopher Susanne K. Langer and the meaning of music in artistic practice. Her curatorial engagement with musical subcultures and club cultures led her to initiate the platform czirp czirp – experimental and sonic arts in 2009. Lona Gaikis holds a master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. She obtained her doctoral degree (Dr. Phil.) in Philosophy, Art and Cultural Studies from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 2017.
