Iva Bittová

Iva Bittová (1958) is one of the most avant-garde artists of the Czech Republic. She began her successful career as an actress and continued it as an experimental violinist, singer and composer. In Brno, she was selected as Personality of the Year in 2006. As a musician, she has received four Singer of the Year Awards and the same number of Record of the Year Awards, granted by the Czech Music Academy.  She has been living and working in New York City since 2007.
Her studies and artistic career were strongly influenced by both her parents: her father, a Slovak-Roma musician, and her mother, who sang in professional vocal groups. She graduated in Drama and Music from the Music Conservatory in Brno. In 1982, Iva began studying with Professor Rudolf Šťastný, the first violin of the Moravian String Quartet. The violin has become her passion, the most inspiring instrument of her professional life.
