Shu Lea Cheang

Media artist and film-maker Shu Lea Cheang (born in Taiwan) is a self-styled “floating digital agent”. Her net art works were commissioned and permanently collected by the Walker Art Center (Bowling Alley, 1995), NTT/ICC, Tokyo (Buy One Get One, 1997) and the Guggenheim Museum (Brandon, 1998-1999). Her first 35mm feature, Fresh Kill, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 1994. I.K.U., produced by Uplink Co. of Tokyo, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, 2000. In the year 2000 her art gallery exhibitions include Ota Fine Arts in Tokyo and The Project in New York. She also took part in the Taipei Fine Art Museum Biennale 2000 Exhibition.
Currently, she is working on a Net Installation called Baby Play with NTT/ICC (InterCommunication Center) in Tokyo. Her next sci-fi porn feature, Fluid, is in development with Innocent Pictures/Zentropa (Denmark). Work slides (1995-1999) can be viewed at http://brandon.guggenheim.org/shuleaWORKS.
