Feminist Performance Art: Autobiography and Body

From its inception, live art has been particularly attractive to
feminist artists because it permits them to use their bodies and their
voices in a manner that is less fixed than more traditional forms of
representation such as painting and sculpture. In this lecture, I will
look at particular instances of the feminist use of the
autobiographical voice in conjunction with the artist’s body in order
to analyze how feminist artists have strategically challenged the male
privilege in the art world and cultural stereotypes regarding the role
of women. Jennie Klein
