Régine Debatty

Régine Debatty one of the first full-time bloggers who tries to make living exclusively by blogging. She
is the art critic, reporter and contemporary post-journalist who always has some unpredictable commentary
or smart question up her sleeve. Debatty is the author of a highly acclaimed and extremely well
read blog portal we-make-money-not-art.com where she and her colleagues write about the interaction
between art, design and technology. She also works as a new media curator, and has been invited to
a number of conferences and festivals to lecture on art, hacking and design (ab)uses of technology.

As a guest of the COWeb platform - City of Women Goes Web - Régine Debatty will write a blog and hold
a lecture aimed at COWeb group of writers as well as broader public, allowing them to learn about her
blogging experience, how to write - and make a living from writing - and what it is that determines a
world famous blogger.

Before becoming a blogger, Régine Debatty studied classical philology in Belgium and England, and was
a teacher of Latin and Ancient Greek. She later became interested in media, and directed documentary
films for Belgium state television, reported for Onda Cero - a Spanish radio station - and worked in Italy
as a consultant for the European Commission’s MEDIA programme. Daša Lakner
