xx CITY OF WOMEN ARTISTS

Installation with guided tours
For several years, the City of Women has been busy with the question of how to archive the rich festival history and retain its content even after live events are over. At the same time, it wishes to intervene in the main narrating currents of Slovenian art and societal system with its archive, which is sort of being created on the fringes yet is not shy to show its engagement as a principle of its action. This year, special attention is given to the porosity between the archive and the wider space where an exposition of archive material wishes to shed light on the establishment of the performative scene and practices that were presented in the festival history. The first in line of events aimed at revitalising the archive will seek the lines of flight and the genealogies of different directions and phenomena, as well as notate individual art practices with an emphasis on the chosen performative artists who have collaborated with the City of Women and will be presented to the foreign professional public.
Around twenty foreign producers have been invited to meet our artists and vice-versa, while enjoying the potent scene that creatively stretches artistic practices in many ways. The archive will be presented on two levels: in space (video installations, infographics) and in discourse, whereby writers will give insights into the archive through their particular entry points.
Guided tours will try to offer reflections on the forming of the scene, on how certain things exist as echoes, at the same time, in reference to and developing from; while individual entries will form a multitude of maps.
The event will span several days and include its online exhibition of chosen video materials by chosen performative artists and their productions in collaboration with the Network Museum.

Every half an hour, there will be a GUIDED TOUR (October 6th–8th, 3-5 PM, Old Power Station entrance hall), presented by various agents who will present a unique insight into the archival material.
