Whites Waiting / Whites Going In

"For better or worse, it has been said, Slovenia awaits
the tangible impact of its recent accession to the European Union. Some are
calling this form of change measured, its careful transition due cause for
continued celebration. I mainly wonder about the effect of waiting. Waiting as
an embodied construct. And yet, if waiting were to be celebrated, what would it
look like?"
(Mara Verna)

Canadian artist, Mara Verna (Canada), will
work/perform in public over the course of 6 days. She will be mute, yet
communicative to passers-by. During this time, she gestures in preparation,
ravelling, whistling, waiting. On the eve of the final day, a celebration of
sorts ensues, with much fanfare and audience participation. The public is
cordially invited to attend. In addition to her ongoing performance, Whites
Waiting, Mara Verna will be at Škuc Gallery with live art documents, including
a wall drawing, associated with her Ljubljana action, and the video Whites
Going In.
