Women’s Stage 2006 (Oder žensk 2006)

Women’s
Stage

is an open performance and meeting of various Slovene artists, which – in
conjunction with Apokalipsa magazine – has already been held twice at different
locations as part of the 2006 City of Women Festival.
More than twenty established women poets and writers will, in a marathon
reading performance, draw attention to women’s memory, history and genealogy
through the eyes of women. This history of everyday – and not so everyday –
events that featured our grandmothers, mothers, aunts, and sisters as heroines,
is mainly related within families as an oral tradition passed down from
generation to generation, mostly by women. Such is an artistic and creative
amendment to – as well as a subversion of – canonised history and its values.
