BIRGITTE STÆRMOSE

Born in 1963, Birgitte Staermose has an M.F.A. in Film and Media Arts from Temple University, Philadelphia. She directed award-winning shorts that have been screened worldwide. Small Avalanches, based on a short story by Joyce Carol Oates, won her UIP Prize for Best European Short at Edinburgh IFF. Staermose contributed to Letters From Denmark – a film in response to the «Mohammed cartoon crisis». Her first feature film, Principles of Attraction, was released in 2006 in Denmark. That same year, she shot Sophie, a segment of the choral feature, which had its international premiere at Sundance in 2007.
