Maud Nelissen

Maud Nelissen is a concert pianist, chamber musician and accompanist. Over recent years she has devoted more time to composing her own music. As a pianist she has great affinity with the romantic and 20th century repertoire, with a particular interest in French music. She has also become a pre-eminent Dutch film accompanist, working for the NFM (Nederlands Filmmuseum) and the Film and Concert Foundation. Maud Nelissen has played numerous original scores for silent films. With a blend of period music and brilliant arrangements, her own scores reflect an overall revival of the practices and the atmosphere of 1910's and 20's pre-talkie cinema. In the spring of 2005, Nelissen performed at the opening performance of the Germaine Dulac retrospective at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, and last July she accompanied the retrospective entitled Germaine Dulac, Cinéma Pur curated by Tami Williams at the Il Cinema Ritrovato festival in Bologna.
